Movies in the Park

Walk Ipswich

Get together with friends, family and neighbours and join the Ipswich Hospital Foundation Crew for a fun, social event.

Boonah Breakfast Walk
Meet at Bicentennial Park, Boonah-Fassifern Road, just past the big roundabout at 7.00 am for a country walk followed by a healthy breakfast.

Afterwards there is an opportunity to explore the shop galleries, followed by lunch at one of the local eateries.

Collingwood Park Walk
Meet at Banjo Paterson Park, Collingwood Park on Monday 27 February at 7.00am.

Clean Up Australia Day is an opportunity for our community to come together and join forces to make a difference in Ipswich.  For more information, and to register a site or join an available site, visit http://www.ipswich.qld.gov.au/

Register by 18 February to receive your Clean Up Australia Day kit.  Remember to wear a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent.

Indigenous Youth Council Now Available

Ipswich City Council has launched a new opportunity for Indigenous young people to come together and actively participate in community decisions that impact on them and their community.

Council has developed a nomination form, available now at http://www.ipswich.qld.gov.au/ and http://www.theswich.com/ that young Indigenous people can complete.

Council Meetings and Information

Council will hold committee and council meetings during the months of February and March 2012.  All meetings are open to the public and will be held in the Council Chambers which is located on the 2nd Floor of the Council Administration Building, 45 Roderick Street, Ipswich.

Committee Meetings

Monday, 13 February and Tuesday, 14 February, both commencing at 8.30 am.
Monday, 27 February and Tuesday, 28 February, both commencing at 8.30 am.

Council Meetings

Tuesday, 21 February commencing at 9.00 am.
Monday, 5 March commencing at 9.00 am.

Leichhardt Consultative Committee meetings

Held on a Monday afternoon every three months.  Membership is by invitation only.  Anyone interested in attending should contact Division 8 Office on 07 3282 9600.

Meetings of the Rosewood/Walloon Consultative Committee

Held on the fourth Tuesday every two months.  For more information, contact the Division 10 Office on 07 3810 7888.

City and Country Relations Consultative Committee

Nominations are sought for Committee members for the City and Country Relations Consultative Committee, established to develop relationships across city and rural residents.  Meetings are held on the second Thursday afternoon every two months.  Contact Council's Community Development Branch on 07 3810 6648 or email communitydevelopmentrequests@ipswich.qld.gov.au for nomination forms. 

Regional Arts Development Fund

Funding is available to individual professional artists, emerging professional artists, arts workers, cultural workers, project coordinators, incorporated arts and cultural organisations, and unincorporated organisations who are auspiced by an incorporated body. 

Applications for the next round of RADF grants open on Monday 30 January and close Friday 2 March 2012.  Information is available on Council's website http://www.ipswich.qld.gov.au/


Works Update

Changed Traffic Conditions

Information current at 1 February, 2012

Over the next few weeks the following construction works are continuing or are scheduled for commencement:

Vicki Street, Redbank Plains 

Construction of kerb and channel including pavement rehabilitation (on a section between Jane Street and Cedar Road) will commence shortly.

High Street, Blackstone 

Construction of kerb and channel and road construction is continuing.

Dudleigh Street, Booval

Pavement rehabilitation works are continuing.

Junction Road, Karalee

Culvert upgrade from Albatross Avenue to Torrens Street is continuing.

Pine Street, North Ipswich

Pavement rehabilitation works are continuing.

Moores Pocket Road, Moores Pocket

Pavement rehabilitation works are continuing.

Dan Street, Chuwar

Road widening, including the installation of kerb and channel and traffic calming devices between Mt Crosby Rodd and Langlands Street is continuing.

Comona Court, Wulkuraka  

Creek remediation works adjacent to Palma Rosa Drive are nearing completion.

Murray Street, North Ipswich

Construction of kerb and channel works are continuing.

Hancock Bridge, Coalfalls

Flood repair works will commence shortly.

Burnett Street Ipswich/Sadliers Crossing

Pavement rehabilitation works are continuing.

Darling Street, Ipswich

Pavement rehabilitation works are continuing.

Brisbane Street, Ipswich/West Ipswich

Pavement rehabilitation works (nightly)  will commence shortly.

Kerners Road, Yamanto

Earthworks on the Kerners Road deviation are now complete with pavement works and works on Warwick Road continuing.

Edwards Street, Raceview

Pavement rehabilitation works have commenced between Rockton Drive and Wildey Street. Detours are in place during this time.

John Street, Rosewood

Roadwork construction, including the installation of kerb and channel and a concrete footpath from Waight Street to Old Railway line is continuing.

Edmond Street, Marburg

Pavement rehabilitation works are continuing

Marburg Detention Basin, Marburg

Storm drainage maintenance works will commence shortly.

Tallegalla Road, Tallegalla

Pavement rehabilitation works continuing
 

Concrete Footpaths

Work has commenced, or will commence shortly, on construction of footpaths in the following streets:

Dale Road, Camira

Construction of a concrete footpath from Ishmael Road, through Dale Road, Allamanda Drive to Addison Road is nearing completion.

Katandra Crescent, Bellbird Park

Construction of a concrete footpath the full length of Katandra Crescent is continuing.

Valerie Street, Riverview

Construction of a concrete footpath from Child Street and Diamond street has commenced.

Arthur Summervilles Road, Karalee

Construction of a concrete footpath from existing to Balmoral Grove is nearing completion.

Mortimer Street, Ipswich

Construction of a concrete footpath on the western side to the northern end  for 150 metres is nearing completion.

Michels Street, Ripley

Construction of a concrete footpath from Michels Street, Levi Street and Fischer Road on the northern side for 350 metres will commence shortly.
